Hi there! My name is Kate Michael Stewart, and I am an actor based in Louisville, Kentucky. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, watching comically bad television shows, and spending time with friends and family. I have been involved in theater since I was 6 years old, and with each passing year I love it more and more.
I typically perform in both contemporary and classical productions. In this past year, I've begun to immerse myself in the world of Shakespeare. Performing in A Midsummer Night's Dream and Twelfth Night. His language is like dissecting a giant code. I never get bored!

I am an aspiring actor with an interest in all things theater-related. Since the age of 14, I've been interested in pursuing a career in acting. Every year since, I have been participating in plays and fully dedicating myself to the craft. Eventually, my hard work paid off; in the fall of 25', I got to play Jo, a lead role in Women by Chiara Atik, and in the spring of 26', I played Elmire in Tartuffe.
I enjoy writing, directing, and performing. As a performer, I gravitate towards works that provoke critical thought. For instance, in the winter of 24' I performed in #Enough: Plays to End Gun Violence. These were short plays written by students across America. I don't have a preference about the category of play (ie., comedy, drama, classical, or contemporary) and like to play characters with differing backgrounds. I want to write, direct, and perform in works that serve as comments on our present time.
After going to ESU Nationals in the spring of 2025, I have become greatly interested in Shakespeare. Due to this, I auditioned to be a part of the Globe Players Program by Kentucky Shakespeare. I was accepted and performed in a production of Twelfth Night. After these experiences, I have further familiarized myself with his texts and the beauty of prose and verse. Through a greater understanding of Shakespeare, I've learned that his plays are the foundations of all theater. It has allowed me to investigate productions I am in further, contemporary or classical. I am now attuned to looking at language as opposed to just stage directions.
I am now attending the University of Louisville to receive my Bachelor of Science in Theater.
